No data protection officer has been appointed; in our own assessment the conditions of section 38 of the German Federal Data Protection Act are not met.

2. Which law applies, and which authority

This site is operated from Germany and is governed by German law and the EU GDPR. If you are in the United Kingdom, the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 may also apply to the processing of your data, and you may raise a concern with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) in Wilmslow. Our lead supervisory authority, however, is the Data Protection Commissioner for Baden-Württemberg (Landesbeauftragter für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit Baden-Württemberg, Lautenschlagerstraße 20, 70173 Stuttgart, Germany), and a complaint there is the most direct route.

3. Hosting and server log files

When you open this website, the hosting provider automatically records information in server log files: the page requested, the date and time of access, the volume of data transferred, the referrer, browser type and version, operating system and the IP address.

The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in the technically faultless and secure operation of the site. The data is deleted after [retention period to be entered; seven days is customary] at the latest.

5. Reach measurement with Ahrefs Web Analytics

We use Ahrefs Web Analytics (Ahrefs Pte. Ltd., Singapore) to understand how many people visit which pages. The service is cookieless: it sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device, does not track you across websites and does not build a profile of you. It records aggregated information such as page URL, referrer, browser, operating system, device type and approximate country.

The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is in understanding which of our comparison pages are actually useful. Because no information is stored on or read from your device, no consent under section 25 of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act is required. Data may be processed outside the EU on the basis of the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

6. Contacting us by email

If you contact us by email, we process what you send us solely in order to deal with your enquiry. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, or Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where a contract is being initiated or performed. The data is deleted once it is no longer needed and no statutory retention obligation prevents deletion.

7. Links to providers

This site links to the websites of the payment providers compared here. These are plain links: simply opening our pages transfers no data to those providers. Only when you click such a link do you leave this site, at which point the privacy notice of the provider in question applies.

8. Your rights

You have the right at any time to access your data (Article 15 GDPR), to rectification (Article 16), erasure (Article 17), restriction of processing (Article 18), data portability (Article 20) and to object to processing (Article 21 GDPR). Any consent you give can be withdrawn at any time with effect for the future.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Article 77 GDPR). See section 2 above for the authorities responsible.

9. Changes to this notice

We update this notice whenever the website or the legal position changes. The version published here is the one that applies.
